Watchmen Review
This is not a good review. It has a lengthy introduction that has nothing to do with the movie at all. It criticises the length of the movie. It says that the opening scene is the best part of the movie which is not true at all. This person must not have liked this kind of movie.
The Homer of the Ants
This is too long to read. Why are reviews of books and movies so long? Nobody wants to read these... Like really..
The Road
This is a good review. It describes the book with a brief summary. It then goes into the analysis of the book. It gives a positive outlook on the book and gave it a good review. It has little criticisms of the book.

Analysis
Collins does not want to turn ten. He is in love with the simplicities of the younger years of his life and is not looking forward to getting older and having more responsibilities.
Collins is trying to say that he does not want to turn ten. He loved the younger years of his life and is not looking forward to getting older. He captures it as describing who he was at that certain age, using different metaphors to describe who he was. This poem is effective because of the imagery used through out the poem.

Definition Essay Examples Response
The three essays give different views of the different words. The first essay uses everyday examples to relate to the word beauty. The second essay uses the dictionary definition to describe the word denial. The third essay uses definitions provided by other people.
All three essays do a good job at describing the words, they all define the words with a different approach, deriving from different sources.
Beauty: How other people view you.
Deinal: asserting to be untrue or untenable.
Evil: A shallow, deadly, fungus quality.

Spring Break Postttt
Over spring break I did an assortment of things including poop dollar, went to hocking hills, and slept in. One of the funnest parts was going to hocking hills with my friends. We climbed around some rocks and in some caves, no big deal whatever. Kyle Clarke is the biggest pu$$y about heights and doing dangerous things.
Defination Questions
1. There are some ideas that could be considered fresh, but they are 3 days old, if they were apples they could be bruised.
2. Like the baseball team.
3. No, there are not.
4. I did not understand the allusions.
5. The author uses real world examples to show his meaning of the definition fo a Yankee.
6. Thesis staement: In time, though, the idea that the word Yankee suggests has shrunk geographically until it is on the verge of extinction.

A Modest Proposal
1. The thesis of the story is that the Irish should change their way of life.
2. At most not above the value of 2s., which the mother may certainly get, or the value in scraps, by her lawful occupation of begging.
The number of souls in this kingdom being usually reckoned one million and a half, of these I calculate there may be about two hundred thousand couple whose wives are breeders; from which number I subtract thirty thousand couples who are able to maintain their own children,
3. After paragraph 10 because the author was crazy for eating children, and making busnesses and factories for children I began to see that it was a satire.
4. The poor Irish and the rich English people. They are also to blame because it is their fault for not being able to provide for their children, but having children.
5. Its almost all a saterical act. He suggests stopping abortion to improve conditions of living.
6. Its his suggestion but he is giving excuses so he is not affected by it.
7. He uses stories and stats to show how much it cosst to raise a child to age one and how much it costs to sell it.
8. I would market babies for their exceptionally soft skin, people would go crazy to get their hands on it. It would shoot right to the top of the in list this season.

Why I Want a Wife Response
1. I believe that the thesis is implied in the first paragraph of the story.
2. The effect of the repetition is that you really know that she wants a wife.
3. I do not believe that she wants this wife, I think that she wants to become this type of wife, and want everyone to know what she has to go through everyday.
4. She organizes the different things about being a wife in an order that makes sense. She sort of creates the ideal image of a wife, although it seems like how a regular wife would be it seems completely outrageous that all these tasks could be completed with no problems.
5. I admire the values in your essay about how the ideal wife should be. I consider your essay to be both effective and pursuasive. Good Job.

James Thurber Satire
The Little Girl and the Wolf
I liked this story because of the funny ending. This story is a satire of Little Red Riding Hood. Thurber surprised me with the ending of the story when she shot the wolf. He used satire in the ending and with the moral. He also uses satire with the title of the story.
The Bear
I liked this story because it was funny. The bear thought he was doing something good but it really had the same effect of getting drunk. This story did not surprise me as much as the first one did. He uses satire in the second half of the story when the bear is doing the same things he did when he was drunk.
The Princess and the Tin Box
I liked this story because of its surprising ending and moral. This story is not similar to any I’ve heard before. I was surprised when the princess picked the platinum box, I thought she was going to pick the tin box because she had never seen it before. He uses satire when the princess does not pick the tin, and in the moral.

Fairytale Poem
The Lion and the Mouse
Great, Thats a huge lion,
Would you look at this,
Beauty and the Beast
B**** look down, tell me whats up,
Girl you talk to much, shut up.
The Little Mermaid
I can teach you how to speak my language, Rosetta Stone,
This life is like the sweetest thing ive ever known,
The Grasshopper and the Ant
Hop hop hop, he is a grass hopper,
he is talking to some ants,
Cinderella
She needs to step her game up,
She needs to fight her sisters,
Little Red Riding Hood
I love playing games,
That wolf said we will play hide and seek,
Alice In Wonderland
Oh would you look at that,
I was so mad,
Princess and the Pea
My pimps name is P,
I wake up bruised everyday,
Snow White
The hunter told me to stand out there in that forest,
He needed me to lure all the animals,
Poem- The Little Mermaid
I can teach you how to speak my language, Rosetta Stone,
This life is like the sweetest thing ive ever known,
Oh would you look at this,
Oh would you look at that,
If im in that water all day ill get fat,
My fingers and toes will prune up real bad,
This is like the sweetest thing ive never had,
Oh I was so mad,
They need a diving board here,
But they are scared of heights, a great fear.

Sonnet
Derek
There was a boy named Derek who liked pools,
He swam all day untill he could not swim,
After he swam he sat at the bar stools,
He laid down to sleep with the lights all dim,
While asleep he drempt something very fun,
He was running away from a large bear,
Then he stopped and pulled out his old gun,
He knelt down and set his sights on a hare,
Then with a pull of the trigger KA-POW,
He walked to the dead hare and bagged the sucker,
He walked home and milked the old family cow,
He cooked the hare and ate it for supper,
He woke up after this nice meal and said,
Would you look at that, that hare is so dead.

This I Believe Response
There is no God
In this essay the writer is an atheist. He uses the thought that you cant prove the existence of a God. I disagree with his reasoning because it can be used the other way around. I agree with other parts of the essay, such as when he suggests fixing problems, rather than asking a God to fix, or help fix, these problems. He talks about forgiveness being only given by people and not by a God so it makes him try harder to do right. I believe that if everyone was atheist that this mind set will not work because not everyone will follow it. He also talks about when there is a world problem, people blame a God. I completely disagree with this statement because people generally don’t blame a God, they ask why the God allowed this to happen.
The Rule Of law
In this essay the author talks about the rule of law being one of the greatest achievements of the human race. I completely agree with what this essay says about a need for law. I believe that without law, the world would go to chaos. Keeping law, keeps order in society. The author also says that law set our values, which I also agree with.
Knowing Where A Person Is From
In this essay the author talks about her manager at her first high school job. Her manager told her that it is important to know languages and culture to be able to understand someone. She always has thanked him for this because she is less judgmental because she does not know where they or from, what customs they are used to, and what situation they are in.

Reflection
Reflection
The people that came in to speak to us today had a strong message to share with us. The message was how drugs and alcohol ruined their lives and how they got into that life changing situation. What’s surprising is the age that most of the men started to use, for many of them it was between ages twelve to fourteen. Many of the people had a rough childhood while many of them were super stars. In my opinion the two main factors that kids and teenagers get into drugs is; peer pressure, and ease of access. Everyone knows where to get it and everyone knows someone who uses. My opinion was consistent with many of the opinions of the men that came to speak to us. Many of the people that use are just trying to fit in with a group of people they consider to be “cool” or fun to hang out with. Many of the men started with marijuana or alcohol and that progressed into the use of other, stronger, drugs. I think it was interesting that even the ones with a good upbringing or a family with strong values can sink into the use of many drugs.
I think that this is one of the best ways to get the message out to kids and teens. It is better than having someone who has never used drugs, or never had an alcohol problem come in and talk to kids and teens because they have never experienced the peer pressure of today to get into drugs. People like school consolers can never be as good at sharing the message the men did because in most cases they have not been in a situation like the men were in. The presenters were surprised at the amount of people using or know of someone who is using. In my opinion it should not have surprised them. It is unreasonable to think that in today’s society most teenage kids have not tried drugs and alcohol, or know someone that has.
I agree with the message that the choices you make today can affect the rest of your life, for better or worse, which was a common theme in the presentation. These choices that we make will change the rest of our lives, so they say that it is important to stop using drugs and alcohol and seek help. The message that the men had was very impacting and I believe that they should continue the message. The way that they conveyed their message in my opinion was one of the best ways. I think one of the most important parts was when the

Word Writing
The reflection of the warming sun on the slippery ice covered pavement projected an ostentatious array of light that shined in my eye. The sun rising over top the buildings, unleashing its torrent of light upon the frozen street. I was splendid that a board had struck my face. It was a cold summer’s day and I was merrily hurtling over the many homeless men that were in a slumber on the ground outside my house. Taking a closer look at the homeless men outside my house, I could see the oozing, green fungus growing on the side of their faces. They looked at me with their puppy eyes and asked me if I had an extra clock that they could keep so that they could go to the dumpster at the right time to find a new cardboard box.
“Then our children will form a family band and sing and dance and you won’t be invited,” Said the homeless man.
“Great Oden’s Raven! I’ll help you out, but only if I’m invited to be in the band, look at this look at that,” I countered.
“I’ll only let you into the band if you bring me a scrumptious cheeseburger and I need a wet washcloth the wipe this fungus from my face…it’s getting to be a real pain.”
I ponder my options and I reply,
“I suppose you can have the cheeseburger, but the fungus is going to have to stay; I think your band name should be the Funky Fungus, so you’ve gotta keep the look.”
His eyes narrow like closing blinds and he snarls back,
“Knights of Columbus! How would you like to have mold growing from your face…this is no joking matter! I won’t subjugate myself or my family to a Funky Fungus band. Funky Family, fine, but no fungus!”
He then, threw a basket of blueberries at my head.
“Oh would you look at this! I am so mad!” I said.
This spasm of disgrace made me look at my journey that got me in this situation. The fantastic way my journey began the way it ended.

Go For Active Beginnings
1. Old: Last year in my high school child-development class, each student had to take the “Think-It-Over” baby home for a night to get a taste of parenthood.
New: Last year in my boring high school child-development class, each student had to take the dreaded "Think-It-Over" baby home for a long, stressful night, to get a so called "taste of parenthood".
2. Old: The hour-long drive to the restaurant was uneventful. It was rather chilly, so I decided to wrap Tyler in a blanket and carry him in that way.
New: The uneventful and undesirable hour-long drive to the fancy restaurant was uneventful. It was a chilly night and shiny icicles were forming on buildings, so I got out the red striped fleece blanket to tuck Tyler into it to stay warm.
3. Old: Again, during our meal, my friends and I received strange looks from the others in the restaurant. One couple kept walking by our table just to get a look at my baby.
New: During our wonderful meal, again, my friends and I noticed deranged looks coming from the people in the restaurant. One rude couple kept creeping past our table, full of suspicion about the baby.

Thoughts on a "Good Narrative"

4. I my narrative I include important changes through out the story, I describe the tensions and conflicts through out the story, like when they moved me to a different hospital bed.
5. I tell the story in my point of view through out the narrative.
6. I focus on past events, like pain, and discomfort through out my narrative and relate on the connection between past and present, and how I would never want anyone to have to go through it.
7. I created a main point or idea through out the story of it being the worst pain I have ever experienced, physically and emotionally.

Helen Keller Narrative Response
1. I thought that in the narrative, Helen Keller gave a good description to what her world was like. Although I will never get the full sense of this, she did well on explaining what it is like.
2. The most interesting part to me is how when she finally realized that the words she had been spelling out actually represented the item that she was spelling. That transformation from not understanding to understanding i felt was most interesting.
3. I was surprised that she was able to take on this new spelling so well when she was both blind and deaf.
4. This did not change my outlook on Helen Keller. It did not change my outlook because I have seen a movie about her where all of this is described.
5.
1.) The afternoon sun penetrated the mass of honeysuckle that covered the porch, and fell on my upturned face. My fingers lingered almost unconsciously on the familiar leaves and blossoms which had just come forth to greet the sweet southern spring.
2.) Have you ever been at sea in a dense fog, when it seemed as if a tangible white darkness shut you in, and the great ship, tense and anxious, groped her way toward the shore with plummet and sounding-line, and you waited with beating heart for something to happen?
3.) When I finally succeeded in making the letters correctly I was flushed with childish pleasure and pride. Running downstairs to my mother I held up my hand and made the letters for doll. I did not know that I was spelling a word or even that words existed; I was simply making my fingers go in monkey-like imitation.
6. A narrative is more engaging than a biography because a narrative is written by the actual person it is about. It is important to get a personal perspective because nobody can explain your feelings as well as you yourself can.
7. - Family trip
- Personal experience
- A hardship overcome
- Childhood memory
- A time when I was proud of myself

Where I'm From
Where I'm From
By: Steve Lohner
I am from hot sand and salty sea,
Late night fishing trips, with big flounder,
Seeing the lights of ships, moving across the darkness.
I am from The beach house, the dark wood and sturdy stilts.
I am from my sister taking for ever in the bathroom,
from sleeping the entire way down while my sister takes pictures of me.
I am from going out to dinner and shopping with my mom.
I am from FUNKYZEIT MIT BRÜNO,
From Da Ali G show, I am from Borat.
I am from blowing up fireworks, to eating dirt at Fridays.
I am from the mini pool in my friends backyard, to trips to her lake house.
I am from camping at lake hope, the canoe on the water, catching small mouth bass,
from cooking corn on the fire.
I am from sailing dad on hoover reservoir, from Interlake 1274,
from winning all the races, from burgers after everything was packed.
I am from swimming in Georges pool, from building Legos in his basement,
from hiding under the pull out bed, from shooting bags of pine needles.
I am from sleeping in on weekends, from being late to school.
I am from the artificial Christmas tree,
from my mom reading the night before Christmas to my sister and I
on Christmas eve.
I am from little ceacers pizza on summer nights,
from basketball a the rec center.
